I have been very impressed with #'s approach to mathematics - ~ enthusiasm and motivation is very pleasing indeed. # finds this subject immensely difficult and will often give up on a task without even attempting to understand it. In lessons ^ has joined in with oral work, showing me that ^ is conscientious and enthusiastic. There is no lack of effort apparent and ^ has recently performed well in end of topic tests. # has come equipped with a positive and extremely enthusiastic attitude to each and every maths lesson. # has shown great application in all aspects of mathematics and shows ^ is capable of working to a high level. # enjoys maths and is confident working in all aspects of the subject. # has enjoyed maths and works hard, making good progress. # always enjoys maths lessons and has progressed steadily. # always enjoys maths and has made steady progress. # enjoys maths and works hard in this subject. ^ has made steady progress in all areas. # enjoys working in all areas of maths and shows good application. ^ has made good progress as a result. # has shown good application in mathematics, making steady progress in all areas. # enjoys work in all areas of mathematics and has responded well to tasks set, making good progress as a result. # enjoys work in all areas of mathematics and has responded well to tasks set. " Progress # has found many of the topics overly challenging and these include simultaneous equations, percentages, estimation and graphs. Although often too talkative, # will swiftly understand new topics and gain pleasing scores in classwork and homework. # is making limited progress in mathematics at the moment. This is indicated by a lack of attention in class. I have been impressed with ~ approach to the subject, which has included some difficult topics. In tests, # often gets a disappointing score and has so far failed to seek my advice about what he can do to improve it. # seems to work well in class, rarely seeking individual input from me and keeping a low profile. # has struggled with much of the terms work, more noticably with the harder topics which we have covered since half term. In topic tests # has regularly gained marks in excess of 80%. Homework is always punctual and of a pleasing quality whilst progress is also excellent. ^ has become very confident in topics including statistics, 2D constructions, and fractions. I am very pleased with #'s progress and am confident that ^ will continue to make excellent headway. I am continually impressed by ~ understanding and the speed at which ^ completes tasks. Unfortunately I am beginning to see that ^ is becoming less motivated towards ~ classwork and homework, with several pieces of work submitted late or not at all. I continue to be impressed by ~ approach to the subject in that ^ shows excellent motivation and enthusiasm. ~ approach and attitude towards mathematics is reasonably diligent and its importance to ~ is obvious. ~ behaviour in class is excellent and I am satisfied that ^ is making the best possible progress for someone of * ability. ^ must make more progress if ^ is to continue at extended level though as I see that ^ is not currently coping with the work. # has worked with enthusiastic motivation this year and has made excellent use of ~ time. ~ attitude has remained positive and ^ has made very good progress in all topics covered. # has developed into a more confident and methodical mathematician as time has progressed and ^ should be commended on the professional approach that ^ has adopted to ~ studies. # has gained in confidence and determination as time has progressed and ^ can now solve basic problems which require two or more stages of calculation. ^ finds the subject difficult at the best of times but during term one we have covered algebra and graph plotting which ^ has found overly challenging # is coping exceptionally well in end of topic tests. ~ motivation and diligence are helping ~ achieve scores for classwork, homework and topic tests that indicate that ^ will continue to succeed in mathematics. # has been occasionally prone to being overly talkative in lessons and understands that ~ rate of progress has improved since ^ has sat away from ~ friends. # has struggled with much of the work we have done in this class. As a result, ^ is making less progress than the rest of the class. ^ has done well in topics including probability and percentages but has found algebra and graphing very difficult. # struggles with mathematics and as a result is making slow progress. " CW/HW ^ has handed in all but one homework on time, ~ classwork is of a high standard and ^ often attempts extension work in class. # has always managed to submit homework and classwork punctually and of a satisfactorily high standard. # has managed to submit all pieces of work on time. ^ regularly takes on extension work in lessons and also performs very well in topic tests. On several occasions ^ has informed me that ^ has done or wishes to do extra work as ^ likes the subject. ^ has always produced ~ homework on time and completes all classwork. I have been impressed with ~ motivation and enthusiasm which, combined with obvious tenacity, provide ~ with the facilities required for working at this level. ^ submits homework and classwork punctually and to a high standard. The average grade ^ has earned in term one topic tests was 61% which is some 20% less than the majority of the rest of the class. ^ only rarely misses homework or classwork deadlines and underneath the jovial personality ^ is quite serious about ~ studies. ^ does have a tendency to rush ahead and finish exercises quicker than some other members of the class but has different measures of success depending on the topic. Homework has been completed punctually and has been of a consistent quality whilst ~ attitude in the classroom shows that even though ^ finds mathematics difficult ^ wants to do as well as possible and works hard to do so. Homework and classwork have been both neat and punctual and progress is clearly swift. Grades concerning classwork and homework are usually very pleasing, though in class tests ^ performs at a lower level than is expected. # has developed into a more conscientious and methodical mathematician as time has progressed and the quality of ~ work has been steadily improving. Classwork often fails to impress me due to its presentation and lack of working out, whilst ~ homework is very often late and of a similar quality. Classwork is done with little pride and homework seems to be more a chore than a route to success. Presentation looks set to remain an issue as # has made very little improvement in the way ^ sets out ~ work. This makes it difficult to mark and shows ^ takes little pride in ~ work. # has made a reasonable amount of progress this year and has maintained ~ exercise books with a high standard of presentation. Homework has never been submitted late and has shown that ^ is capable of understanding the majority of the work we do. # failed to submit several homeworks last term. Homework has been maintained satisfactorily throughout the term and * classwork is also very nice. ~ does struggle and does need to ask a lot of questions in order to grasp concepts, but then ~ will complete tasks and have a very pleasing amount of success. Homework can often be an issue as it is handed in late or is of a poor quality. Homework is often partially completed or is late and this will need to be addressed before ~ grades improve. ^ has a good homework record with all pieces submitted. Together with classwork I am satisfied with ~ presentation and the working out ^ shows in ~ book is entirely appropriate. For the vast majority of the time ^ works well and has a modicum of success in classwork and homework. # has submitted homework punctually and of a good standard, complimenting already satisfactory classwork. " General ^ has shown great ability in trying different approaches and finding ways of solving Math problems. ^ is able to organise ~ work and checks results. ^ is beginning to organise ~ work and check results, and is becoming more adept at trying different approaches in problem solving. ^ shows more independence in organising ~ work, and is beginning to check ~ answers. ^ has worked consistently in trying different strategies when solving problems. Some effort has been made to try different approaches in solving problems, but ^ needs reminding to check results. ^ understands place value well when multiplying and dividing, and can use simple fractions and describes number patterns. ^ has sound understanding of factors, multiples and square numbers. ^ has developed ~ understanding of four rules well, and applies them appropriately to ~ work. ^ has the ability to use multiples, factors and square numbers in ~ mental arithmetic. ^ has a good understanding of place value. ^ has improved ~ understanding of place value and is beginning to use the four rules in correct context. ^ has developed a better understanding of fractions, multiples and square numbers. ^ has excellent understanding of 2D symmetry, and is beginning to apply knowledge of angles in ~ work on Shape, particularly in ICT. ^ has worked extremely well on perimeter and area, and finds the volumes of shapes by counting cubes. ^ has begun to work precisely when making 3D shapes from nets. ^ has a developing understanding of 2D symmetry, and is beginning to apply knowledge of angles in ~ work on Shape, particularly in ICT. ^ has worked well on perimeter and area, and finds the volumes of shapes by counting cubes. ^ is able to make 3D shapes from nets. # never fails to bring a positive and highly motivated attitude to mathematics lessons. # has developed a more confident and methodical approach to mathematics as time has progressed and ^ can now solve problems which require the application of two or more concepts. # has made good progress in mathematics and ^ has proved *self to be an enthusiastic, polite and helpful student with a lively sense of humour. I am particularly impressed with #'s positive approach to mathematics and ^ will one day enjoy the rewards of ~ continued effort. However, # clearly has difficulties producing good results in examinations and this clearly reflects a lack of focused revision on ~ part. # has made good progress in mathematics and ^ has proved *self to be an enthusiastic, organised, polite and helpful student # has worked very well throughout the year and has consolidated and developed ~ mathematical ability. ^ has shown on many occasions that if the understanding of a topic or concept is not forthcoming then ^ will work at it and seek advice until ^ is satisfied. # should appreciate that ^ does have the facility to tackle more difficult tasks by breaking them down into more manageable steps. # has made much improvement in terms of ~ behaviour in lessons. ^ is now far more attentive and motivated and ~ attitude is far more positive. ^ is quick to understand concepts and spots rules easily - ^ can mechanically answer questions but finds problem solving difficult as the route to the answer is often less clear. ^ is, nevertheless, very good at asking questions concerning what ^ finds difficult and clearly values individual attention in lessons. ~ sociable nature may hinder ~ attention in lessons however and ^ often needs to be reminded that ^ is supposed to be working. Nevertheless ^ behaves very well indeed and is usually punctual with ~ homework. ~ number skills have improved a great deal and algebra skills are not far behind. # had a somewhat shaky start to the first term, but is now most definitely on track and working hard. # has a positive attitude towards mathematics and generally works in a motivated and pleasing way. ^ has not performed as well on some of the topics of the second half of the year as ^ did on the earlier topics that term. These topics included simultaneous equations and graphs. ^ is competent at number and solving equations however. # has worked very hard this year and clearly enjoys this subject. I have been consistently impressed with ~ motivation and enthusiasm and believe that if this continues ~ grades will increase. I am very impressed with #'s approach to this subject and feel confident that ^ will continue to perform well as long as ~ enthusiasm and commitment to ~ work remain. # is capable of gaining some very pleasing marks in mathematics. # has been occasionally found to be talking with ~ friends when perhaps ^ should be listening or working. ^ has understood that this does not aid ~ progress and has improved since sitting away from certain individuals amongst ~ friends. ^ is skilled at deciding when ^ needs my help with a task and when we work on an exercise only rarely asks questions which need not have been asked. # is an able mathematician who is capable of earning pleasing results in topic tests, homework and classwork. # is particularly capable in topics such as fractions, arithmetic and statistics. ~ cheerful and robust attitude towards the subject has set * in good stead for the challenging topics we have worked through. # works with great motivation in lessons and performs well with homework too. Work is always neatly written and well presented and progress is good. ~ classwork and homework are brilliantly presented and of a high standard mathematically. # has worked well so far this year although ^ has clearly made no more than satisfactory progress ^ does find mathematics difficult however and does struggle through much of the work. I have been regularly impressed by # and the speed of ~ mental numeracy and arithmetic skills. # has performed well in virtually every topic, earning pleasing marks in topic tests as well as classworks and homeworks. # is a diligent student who always pays great attention to explanations and takes an active role in all oral work. # has performed very well in this exam, showing that the work ^ has covered over the year has been of a more than satisfactory standard for a student of this ability. # has a positive attitude towards mathematics and never lets the difficulty of this subject discourage ~. # is one of the harder working students in the class and I had expected * to do a little better in the exam. # can be a diligent and enthusiastic student, although he is easily distracted by ~ friends. There has been a huge improvement in the presentation of ~ work which is good to see. There has been an improvement in the presentation of ~ work which is good to see. The presentation of ^ written work has improved a lot, but again, ^ needs to improve consistency in this area. The presentation of ~ written work has improved a lot, and now ^ needs to achieve consistency in this area. ^ is capable of setting ~ work out in a neat, tidy and well organised way but must take care to ensure standards of presentation do not slip. ^ work is always presented in a clear and well organised way. ^ work is usually presented in a clear and well organised way. ^ is keen to progress and has learnt to set ~ work out in a clear way. ^ work is generally set out in a clear and organised way and ^ can go back and correct ~ own work when mistakes are made. ^ has worked hard this year to improve the presentation and layout of ~ work, and I am pleased with ~ progress in this area. ^ generally understands new concepts well and knows the appropriate time to ask for help if ~ gets stuck. ^ understands new concepts well and knows when ^ has to ask for help with ~ work. ^ is keen to learn but sometimes, when faced with new concepts, needs to take a little more time and ask for help if stuck. ^ can correct ~ own work well when ^ makes mistakes and think round a problem if ^ becomes stuck. " targets I believe that if # was a little more attentive towards ~ work then ^ would make even more progress and ~ grades would markedly improve. ^ has shown that shape is an area of mathematics where ^ feels confident and that ^ could benefit from more practise with ~ algebra skills. ^ could develop ~ Mathematical skills by explaining and offering reasons for ~ work. ^ needs to apply ~ Mathematics knowledge when investigating - by searching for patterns in numbers and data. ^ needs to increase ~ Mental Mathematics skills - particularly in speed and recalling Maths facts - e.g. tables, weights and measures. ^ should try to improve ~ algebra skills, most notably graphing, rearranging formulae and simultaneous equations as these will be foundations for the work covered during the IGCSE course. # has worked quite well on topics such as number and simple linear equations, though ^ has struggled to come to grips with simultaneous equations and percentages. # would do well if ^ took more care to copy notes, listen to which tasks I expect * to do and when to hand them in. I would like to see # attempt extension work in class more regularly as this would stretch ~ abilities and increase ~ rate of progress. I am concerned that whilst * classwork and homework is satisfactory * test results indicate a rushed approach or a lack of proper revision. I would like to see # increase ~ test marks a little, in order to safeguard ~ place in the top set and I would also like ~ to ask me for help more regularly when doing extension work. # has coped well with topics such as algebra, number and percentages but has struggled with some of the concepts within estimation and simultaneous equations. If # is to achieve a higher grade in mathematics ^ must revise ~ notebook every week and ^ should repeat class and homework exercises as it appears that ^ has difficulties recalling key concepts and techniques. If # is to fulfil ~ true potential ^ must ensure that ^ revises ~ notebook every week as well as developing a more logical approach to contextual problems. # does not find mathematics an easy subject, as ~ examination result has reflected, but ^ should be commended on the positive attitude ^ has adopted to ~ studies and I am confident that ^ will be rewarded in the future with a higher grade. # is aware that presentation of work can occasionally let * down and that ^ should endeavour to improve the quality of ~ written work and accompanying diagrams. It is not news that ^ finds the subject very difficult, but there are topics ^ does better in than others. These include percentages and probability whereas algebra is definitely something ^ needs to work on. # has found that ^ is capable at topics including probability and percentages whilst ^ needs further practice at algebra and graph plotting. ^ needs to practise ~ algebra skills as algebra remains a difficult concept to grasp and has great importance from this stage onwards. Algebra and graphs are challenging for any student and # should not be discouraged at having found these difficult. # would do well to make sure ~ homework and classwork are completed to a high standard and submitted punctually in all instances, not just the majority. " Finally ^ has struggled with some topics over the year - notably graphs, simultaneous equations and solving equations. ^ has risen to the challenge though and will be able to cope with year 10 work much better as a result. I am disappointed that this has not been reflected in #'s examination result and it is clear that ^ must ensure that ^ checks all ~ calculations and chosen method in the future as well as adopting a more focused approach to ~ revision work, as ^ does have difficulties recalling mathematical concepts. I am still disappointed at the quality of ~ presentation of work but am grateful that all work is punctually submitted and ^ remains motivated and enthusiastic. # has submitted work punctually and of a consistent quality throughout the year. ~ exam result is disappointing but is in line with ~ progress over the first term. I have been very impressed with # since ~ half term report. ~ effort is now exemplary and only marred by ~ sometimes careless presentation. ^ has worked with consistently high motivation and effort throughout the first term, submitting all homework punctually and together with ~ classwork, gaining very satisfactory grades. Whenever # finds a topic difficult to overcome ^ will seek my help during lessons and breaktimes and ~ grade is reward for me too! #'s examination grade is estimated based on ~ classwork and homework to date. If confidence in examinations approaches ~ confidence in the classroom I would expect this grade to be achieved. I have been impressed time and again by the way ^ clearly shows satisfaction when having completed a problem or task. ~ enjoyment of the subject is obvious and ~ efforts are a model for ~ peers. # has made fairly limited progress in mathematics and ^ has faced great difficulties understanding some of the topics covered this year due to ~ lack of determination. # has performed rather lower in the June exam than is expected for a student in this set. ~ performance in tests will be monitored very closely and ~ position in the class will be reconsidered next term. # would do well to pay attention more in class and develop a more positive attitude. Learning in mathematics does not come easily and a great deal of effort is required before success is realised. The grade I have given * above is based on the work ^ has done this year as ^ was absent for the examination. I am extremely impressed with ~ exam mark and acknowledge that ^ must have worked extremely hard over the revision period. I am delighted with ~ exam result and hope that ^ makes even more progress next term. I have been impressed with ~ diligence and pride in ~ work and I am pleased that ^ has got the grade ^ has in the exam. "
